DECKING GUIDE
WOODEN DECKING
The most widely used type of decking is the traditional wooden deck boards. The boards are usually tanalised softwood, and have a variety of different profiles. This product provides the most economical option for a decked area and will require maintenance periodically. To get the most out of this kind of decking, the deck boards can be treated with many different products and usually benefit from a regular sweep down to prevent debris and algae from building up.
COMPOSITE DECKING
For a hassle free, low maintenance decking, composite boards are a great choice. They come in various profiles, grades and colours, giving lots of choice. A modern grey board is a popular choice but there are more traditional options too. Although composite decking is more expensive, it doesn’t require much maintenance to keep in great condition.
ANIT-SLIP DECKING
This anti-slip decking works very well in areas that can be dangerous for children or less mobile adults such as steps. This decking can also be used alongside regular wooden decking to provide an anti-slip ‘zone’ or for the whole of the decked area. This type of decking is more expensive than traditional wooden decking but a cheaper alternative to composite decking.
